Kimball Union Academy hasn't had much luck against New Hampton School recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Huskies at 2:30 p.m. Kimball Union Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Kimball Union Academy came out on top against Kingswood Oxford on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Wildcats walked away with a 9-6 win over the Wyverns.
Stella Kozak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kozak was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Leila Portugal was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Olivia Parker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Phillips Exeter Academy hit New Hampton School with a four-run seventh inning last Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies came up short against the Lions, falling 13-7. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Abby Schrader was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyaha Perez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
New Hampton School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kimball Union Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Kimball Union Academy might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from New Hampton School in their previous matchup back in May of 2018. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
