Softball Recap: West Comes Up Short

West lost against China Spring last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The West Trojans fell just short of the China Spring Cougars by a score of 7-6. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 4-0 in the first period.

Karsen Fuessel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Mabri Warren also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen base of the season.

West has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season. China Spring's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Looking ahead, West will be taking part in a tournament against Grandview at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for China Spring, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars challenge the Lions at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Franklin's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
