Freedom proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Ocoee Knights. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Not much got past John Paul Rodriguez Torres, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Ocoee off the board.
At the plate, Freedom's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Kliegl, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Yordis Hernandez Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Freedom now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ocoee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will square off against Edgewater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ocoee, they will challenge Mount Dora at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
