Softball Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Elkhart Elks

Westwood is 0-10 against Elkhart since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will host the Elks at 6:00 p.m. Westwood has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westwood is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Buffalo, falling 20-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Meanwhile, Elkhart made easy work of Teague on Tuesday and carried off an 11-3 victory. Considering the Elks have won 11 games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylee Lohmeyer made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lohmeyer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Ella Lively was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Londyn Holland was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Elkhart has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
