Baseball Game Preview: West Davidson Dragons vs. Central Davidson Spartans

The West Davidson Dragons will square off against the Central Davidson Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

The home team had come away the winner the last three times West Davidson and Lexington had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Dragons blew past the Yellowjackets 19-1 on Tuesday. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Tyson Walters spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Ortiz, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Berrier, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

West Davidson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, while Central Davidson put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Montgomery Central. The Spartans put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

West Davidson pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Central Davidson, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

West Davidson came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Davidson when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
