Basketball Recap: Miami Country Day Falls Short of Riviera Prep in the Playoffs

Miami Country Day and Riviera Prep squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Miami Country Day had to settle for second. They fell to the Riviera Prep Bulldogs 50-46. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Miami Country Day's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miguel Orbe, who went 7-for-15 en route to 16 points. Orbe's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Romero, who posted 12 points.

Riviera Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Fuentes, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists. Jeremy Jenkins was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.

Miami Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Riviera Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

Miami Country Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riviera Prep, they will challenge First Baptist Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
