Baseball Recap: Lakewood Ranch Find Success

While Lakewood Ranch's win against Riverview Sarasota wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Riverview Sarasota Rams on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

Carter Sprague was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Lakewood Ranch's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Flores, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Lakewood Ranch's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Riverview Sarasota, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Lakewood Ranch and Riverview Sarasota could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Lakewood Ranch (ranked 354th) will meet Charlotte (ranked 145th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood Ranch is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Meanwhile, Riverview Sarasota will take on Venice at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 387 places (402 vs. 15).
