League recap: Lawrence County beats Stratford in tight affair

AAA District 8 recap Sept. 26, 2012

Lawrence County and Stratford played the most hotly contested game in AAA District 8 this week, with Lawrence County eventually emerging with a 34-33 victory. Marquis Lockridge ran for 131 yards in the win.

The Wildcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on the Spartans. Lockridge in the win.

Tullahoma's dynamic duo of Justin Brown and Cole Potter proved tough for Tyner Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brown threw for 141 yards and one touchdown and Potter had 73 yards receiving. Riley Darden helped Tullahoma's passing attack out by catching three balls for 40 yards.

The Wildcats' Brown and Zane Price have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 1188 yards this season, while Price has 27 catches for 366 yards. Franklin County's Koleton Nunley leads the league in rushing yards with 695.

A big matchup in AAA District 8 this week will be when Tullahoma takes on the Rebels. John Olive's team is in third place, while Franklin County is in first place.
