It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mt. Carmel had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Venice Gondoliers, sneaking past 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Sundevils as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Isaac Reese made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Reese wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Weber, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Weber has posted since back in April.

Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 23-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Venice, their defeat dropped their record down to 29-4.

Mt. Carmel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against University City on the 7th. Venice does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
