Softball Game Preview: East Pennsboro Panthers vs. Harrisburg Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as East Pennsboro Panthers take on Harrisburg Cougars at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. East Pennsboro has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for East Pennsboro's offense. They lost 15-0 to Trinity on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Harrisburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Reading on Wednesday, falling 19-2. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Mable Thompson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, East Pennsboro fell to 3-1. As for Harrisburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went East Pennsboro's way against Harrisburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as East Pennsboro made off with a 13-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Pennsboro since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
