Basketball Recap: South County Comes Up Short

If South County was riding high fresh off their 91-25 takedown of Osbourn last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The South County Stallions fell just short of the Potomac Senior Panthers by a score of 57-54 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Stallions have suffered since January 17th.

Ryden Rodney Sandy was the offensive standout of the game as he went 5 of 6 en route to 11 points along with four steals and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Yusef Navins, who posted seven points and four steals.

With the loss, South County broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2. As for Potomac Senior, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

South County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fairfax at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Potomac Senior, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oscar Smith at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Oscar Smith will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Potomac Senior surely won't give up without a fight.
