Basketball Recap: Piedmont Hills Piles Up the Points Against Mt. Pleasant

While Piedmont Hills didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals 71-38. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Cardinals are ranked 1038th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Armin D continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 26 points. Christian A. was another key player, posting 14 points.

Isaiah Alvarez and Jordon Flagg certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Alvarez posted 14 points and three steals, while Flagg put up ten points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Ekwuru, who had four points.

Piedmont Hills pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont Hills will take on Saratoga in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Piedmont Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 75.6 points per game this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are taking a road trip to face off against Gonzales at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Pleasant also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.2 points per game.
