Basketball Recap: Zanesville Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kamy Morgan and Ayawna Gladden

Zanesville lost against Licking Heights back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Zanesville Blue Devils took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Licking Heights Hornets. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly 12 points.

Zanesville's loss came despite strong showings from Ayawna Gladden and Kamy Morgan. Gladden went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds, while Morgan posted ten points. Gladden is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Norman, who had seven points.

Even though they lost, Zanesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Zanesville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Licking Heights, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Zanesville and Licking Heights could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Zanesville (ranked 661st) will meet John Glenn (ranked 221st) at 6:45 p.m. on December 30th. Meanwhile, Licking Heights (ranked 585th) will meet Olentangy Berlin (ranked 84th) at 5:30 p.m. on December 30th.
