Baseball Recap: Batavia Has No Trouble Against Reading

Batavia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Reading on Thursday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Blue Devils. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.

Batavia got a big performance out of Mason Patrick, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brayden Schmittou, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Batavia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reading only posted an OBP of .364.

Batavia's record now sits at 12-3. As for Reading, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Looking ahead, Batavia will face off against Wheelersburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Reading, they will take on Taylor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
