Baseball Recap: New Haven Has No Trouble Against Sterling Heights

New Haven won the last time they faced Sterling Heights and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Stallions. That looming 14-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rockets yet this season.

Connor Abuan was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double. New Haven is undefeated when Abuan posts three or more hits, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamar Pearson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

New Haven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for New Haven and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Sterling Heights, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Haven will challenge Mott at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sterling Heights, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clawson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Stallions surely won't give up without a fight.
