Basketball Recap: Seminole Ridge Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Seminole Ridge lost to Village Academy back in January of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Hawks enjoyed a cozy 64-47 victory over the Tigers. The Hawks pushed the score to 57-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Seminole Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Wall, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Avery Louis Jean also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Seminole Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Village Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shawn Promaphil, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 25 points, and Roodley Valentin, who earned seven points along with 11 boards and five blocks. Valentin has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Jerome, who had six points.

Seminole Ridge's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Village Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Seminole Ridge has already played their next matchup, a 65-54 win against FAU High on the 8th. As for Village Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 99-67 loss against Boca Raton Christian on the 8th.
