Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Takes a Loss

Cave Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin County Eagles. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Evan Lee made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Cave Spring is 2-1 when Lee posts three or more hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sam Urgo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Cave Spring's record is now 5-5. As for Franklin County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cave Spring will venture away from home to face off against Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin County, they will head out to square off against Staunton River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
