Basketball Recap: Vista Del Lago Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Quinton Jinna-Smith and Ja'marion Jackson

It was a Battle of the Birds when Vista del Lago duked it out withCitrus Hill on Monday. The Vista del Lago Ravens took a hard 67-50 fall against the Citrus Hill Hawks. The Ravens have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Ja'Marion Jackson and Quinton Jinna-Smith certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Jackson almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Jinna-Smith went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malik Morris, who posted five points and seven rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Citrus Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerren White, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 11 boards, and ten steals. White has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 30 times he's played. Kason Steward was another key player, going 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Vista del Lago's defeat dropped their record down to 6-20. As for Citrus Hill, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-12 record.

Vista del Lago won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakeside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista del Lago is facing Lakeside at the right time seeing as Lakeside is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Citrus Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
