11 must be Farmington's lucky number: they beat New Athens with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Knights beat the Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-2. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Chase Owens was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Colby Larkins, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Farmington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Athens struck out 11 times.

The victory (which was Farmington's sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for New Athens, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Farmington and New Athens should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. The Knights (ranked 76th) will meet Park Hill (ranked 246th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, New Athens will face off against Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (167 vs. 344).
