Baseball Recap: Willard's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Willard took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Huron, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Crimson Flashes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crimson Flashes have posted against the Tigers since April 5, 2022.

Elijah Reed was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Reed was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Reed wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Roger Whetstone, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Willard's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Huron, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Willard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-3 defeat against Lucas on the 2nd. Huron has also already played their next game (against Elmwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
