Petoskey is 1-9 against Gaylord since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northmen will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Petoskey sitting on three straight wins and Gaylord on ten.
Petoskey is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Big Rapids with a sharp 24-3 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Northmen, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jordan Malec was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Alexis Cadarette was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Bre VerCautren was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Petoskey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Gaylord faced Dakota in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 9-4.
Gaylord pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Petoskey, their win bumped their record up to 25-3.
Petoskey might still be hurting after the 15-3 defeat they got from Gaylord in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Will the Northmen have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
