Volleyball Game Preview: Sonora Wildcats vs. Wheatland Pirates + Official Tickets

The Sonora Wildcats will take on the Wheatland Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sonora is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Venture Academy as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The match finished with set scores of 25-4, 25-16, 25-8.

River Islands typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Wheatland proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Riptide by a score of 3-1.

Wheatland got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. The final score came out to 25-17, 18-25, 30-28, 25-17.

Wheatland found their leader in sophomore Addison Gaylord, who had 19 digs and three aces.

Sonora's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Wheatland, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Sonora took their win against Wheatland in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
