Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Comes Up Short

If Santa Rosa was feeling good fresh off their 82-61 takedown of Progreso last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Santa Rosa Warriors fell just short of the Lyford Bulldogs by a score of 67-64 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since December 2, 2023.

Santa Rosa's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-9. As for Lyford, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Santa Rosa will be home for the holidays to greet Rio Hondo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Rosa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Rio Hondo likes a good challenge. As for Lyford, they will venture away from home to challenge Raymondville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Raymondville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
