It was a good run, but  East Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their  14-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Neshoba Central Rockets by a score of  3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the  14-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2022.
 Abbie Huff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in six consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Valerie Merrill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run marked the first that  she  launched this season.
East Central's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Neshoba Central, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record  this season.
 East Central will square off against Caledonia at 4:15  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Neshoba Central, they will take on Ridgeland at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17  runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
