Basketball Recap: Ella Fiefia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pine View over Desert Hills

Pine View lost against Desert Hills last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pine View Panthers fell just short of the Desert Hills Thunder by a score of 50-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Thunder since January 14, 2021.

Pine View lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ella Fiefia, who went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. Fiefia has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Reese Gustin was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Pine View's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Desert Hills, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pine View Panthers face off against the Hurricane Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Desert Hills has already played their next game (against Cedar), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
