Softball Recap: Eastern Greene Gets the Win

Eastern Greene came out on top against Cloverdale on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Thunderbirds had just enough and edged out the Clovers 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunderbirds also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Charley Paurazas and Addison Ramey made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Paurazas struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Ramey struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Paurazas went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Ramey got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Deckard, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Bellman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Eastern Greene kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory snapped Eastern Greene's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record. As for Cloverdale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.

Eastern Greene didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against White River Valley on the 7th. As for Cloverdale, they have also already played their next match, an 8-1 defeat against North Putnam on the 8th.
