Softball Game Preview: Campolindo Cougars vs. Albany Cougars

Campolindo will face off against Albany at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Campolindo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Campolindo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Ygnacio Valley 24-9 last Wednesday.

Paige Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She also tossed two walks, marking her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Campolindo let Nicky Sturtz and Cassidy Mintz run wild. Sturtz scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Mintz scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave Sturtz a new career-high. Maya Hammerman was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Campolindo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Albany fell victim to Salesian College Preparatory and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Pride. The Cougars have struggled against the Pride recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Campolindo's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
