Thayer Central proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the St. Cecilia Bluehawks 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Titans, who have now won five matchups in a row.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-103) Thayer Central actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 17-25, 15-13.

Piper Havel paced Thayer Central's offense, picking up 25 kills. Havel got some help from Olivia Wiedel and her 39 assists. Paige Tietjen and Leah Havel kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Despite the defeat, St. Cecilia had strong showings from Aspen Anderson, who had 21 digs, and Nathie Krikac, who had 32 digs and 15 kills. Krikac has been hot recently, having posted ten or more kills the last four times she's played.

Thayer Central's victory bumped their record up to 27-5. As for St. Cecilia, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 23-10.

Looking ahead, Thayer Central will face off against Freeman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Cecilia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
