Basketball Game Preview: Jarrell Cougars vs. Burnet Bulldogs

The Jarrell Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Burnet Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jarrell is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.

On Friday, Jarrell didn't have too much trouble with Lampasas as they won 53-39. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Badgers are ranked 777th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Burnet strolled past Taylor with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 52-37. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 39-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Ducks cut but never quite recovered from.

Jarrell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Burnet, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.

Jarrell didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Burnet in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 58-54 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jarrell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
