Softball Recap: Petaluma Wins Going Away Against Sonoma Valley

Petaluma never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sonoma Valley on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Dragons. Considering the Trojans have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Pardini was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Petaluma got a massive performance out of Lauren Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Fannin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Petaluma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Petaluma's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Sonoma Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Petaluma will take on Justin-Siena at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.88 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sonoma Valley, they will square off against Napa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
