Basketball Game Preview: GVCS Broadfording Lions vs. Highland View Academy

GVCS Broadfording has gone a perfect 7-0 against Highland View Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face Highland View Academy at 7:30 p.m. GVCS Broadfording has given up an average of 62 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

GVCS Broadfording took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They secured a 65-60 W over Allegany. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Campers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

GVCS Broadfording can attribute much of their success to Mateusz Zgrajek, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Fernando Garcia, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 20 points. What's more, Garcia also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Nathan Rosenfeld, who posted seven points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Highland View Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch back in November as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shenandoah Valley Academy.

The win got GVCS Broadfording back to even at 2-2. As for Highland View Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything came up roses for GVCS Broadfording against Highland View Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 77-47 victory.
