Basketball Recap: Cayleb Blea's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Academy for Technology and the Classics over Santa Fe Indian

Academy for Technology and The Classics was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 70-45 to the Santa Fe Indian Braves. While losing is never fun, Academy for Technology and The Classics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Santa Fe Indian is ranked 28th).

Several Academy for Technology and The Classics players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayleb Blea, who went 5-for-11 en route to 12 points. Blea has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Joseph Trujillo III was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Academy for Technology and The Classics smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Academy for Technology and The Classics' defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Santa Fe Indian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
