Football Recap: Donald Scott Leads Northeast's Defense on Friday

Northeast lost to Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Vikings enjoyed a cozy 20-6 victory over Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Jordan Sampson was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 31 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 62 yards and one touchdown. Northeast also got a significant boost from Samuel Ranel, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

Northeast's defense stepped up as well, laying out Jeremy Collins Jr. five times. Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy's QB won't forget Donald Scott anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Tyree Riley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy still got an impressive performance from Kenny Jones, who rushed for 74 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Northeast has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 41-0 win against East Iberville on the 19th. As for Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 38-18 victory against Capitol on the 19th.
