Basketball Recap: Bowie Piles Up the Points Against Laurel

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Bowie on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Laurel Spartans out of the water with a 77-22 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 27 points or more this season.

Bowie's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sanaa Blunt, who went 5-for-6 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and five steals. What's more, Blunt also posted a 83% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Autumn Welch, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 22 points and three steals.

Bowie was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bowie has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for Laurel, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Coming up, Bowie will face off against High Point at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Laurel, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-25 defeat against Wise on the 18th.
