Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Byron Center

Byron Center made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Sailors a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Cameron Payne looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Alex Wauben was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Ricketts, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for Byron Center, bringing their record up to 3-0.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 5.5 runs thus far As for South Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Byron Center and South Christian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bulldogs see the field they'll take on Catholic Central at 6:15 p.m. on the 15th. As for South Christian, their break will end when they face Wayland at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th.
