Baseball Game Preview: Triton Regional Vikings vs. Newburyport Clippers

The Triton Regional Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Newburyport Clippers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Triton Regional will be strutting in after a victory while Newburyport will be coming in after a defeat.

Triton Regional's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Rockport by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for Triton Regional in their matchups with Rockport: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Newburyport came up short against Lynnfield on Thursday, falling 13-3. The Clippers haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Newburyport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Mercier, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

The victory got Triton Regional back to even at 2-2. As for Newburyport, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Triton Regional couldn't quite get it done against Newburyport in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 10-7. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
