Softball Recap: Penn Cambria Comes Up Short

Penn Cambria had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Central Cambria Red Devils by a score of 2-1. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 15-4 to the Red Devils when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Penn Cambria saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyse Rabatin, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Central Cambria, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games.

On Central Cambria's side, Aubrey Ruddek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Ruddek has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Keira Link was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Looking ahead, Penn Cambria will head out to challenge Bishop McCort at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central Cambria, they will host River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
