Elgin dropped their record down to 6-11 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 6-0 to the North Baltimore Tigers. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Madison Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

As for North Baltimore, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

On North Baltimore's side, not much got past Brynlee Schmidt, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Elgin off the board.

At the plate, Kenzey Young was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Delancy, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Elgin is set to challenge their familiar foe Hardin Northern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, North Baltimore will square off against rival Upper Scioto Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
