Softball Recap: George Stevens Academy Eagles vs. Belfast Lions

George Stevens Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They suffered a rough 16-6 defeat at the hands of the Belfast Lions on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to George Stevens Academy of the 18-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

For Belfast's part, Emma Tripp made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. Tripp was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Danica Gray was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Gracie Moore was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
