League recap: Hooper Academy gets lift from Johnson's big bat

AISA AAA Region 1 league recap: 3/13/13

Brondrick Johnson was on fire this week, as he led AISA AAA Region 1 with a .611 average, one home run and six RBIs. Hooper Academy went 4-2.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy outpaced the rest of the league this week, as its five total wins led the league. The Knights beat Trinity Christian 9-3, Coosa Valley Academy 5-4 and Gatewood 13-0.

Evangel Christian Academy's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 15 hits and 11 walks, both of which led the league.

Ranking first in average, hits and runs batted in, the Colts' Johnson has been the league's most productive player at the plate this season. Johnson has terrorized opposing pitchers, hitting .512 and racking up 21 hits and 13 RBIs.

The top hitter in the league this week was Hooper Academy's Johnson, who ranked ahead of all other players in average, hits and runs batted in. Johnson notched 11 hits and six RBIs, all while batting .611.



Travis Crane drove in four runners on Friday in the Colts' 15-5 victory over Glenwood. He went 3-for-4 and scored one run.

Brandon Kicker led Hooper Academy to a win on March 12, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat the Lions, 10-0. Over his five innings pitched he allowed zero runs on zero hits.
