Basketball Game Preview: Leetonia Bears vs. Valley Christian Eagles

Leetonia is 0-9 against Valley Christian since February of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Leetonia Bears will take on the Valley Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Leetonia is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They fell 50-40 to David Anderson. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly ten points.

Despite their loss, Leetonia saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dylan Johns, who posted nine points and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Mathia, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over the Clippers. The Eagles pushed the score to 48-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Clippers cut but never quite recovered from.

Valley Christian pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Leetonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Leetonia was dealt a bruising 61-26 loss at the hands of Valley Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Leetonia was down 34-14.
