Basketball Game Preview: Breckenridge Cowboys vs. Park Rapids Panthers

The Breckenridge Cowboys will venture away from home to take on the Park Rapids Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Breckenridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Park Rapids came up short against Bemidji on Tuesday and fell 71-63. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 98th).

Breckenridge now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Park Rapids, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Breckenridge against Park Rapids in their previous matchup back in February of 2016, as the team secured a 77-43 victory. Will Breckenridge repeat their success, or does Park Rapids have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
