The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans will venture away from home to take on the Morrison Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Annawan-Wethersfield is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Annawan-Wethersfield and Bureau Valley, and Annawan-Wethersfield kept the tradition alive. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Storm 2-0.
Not much got past Myer MyerHeitzler, who gave up just two hits to keep Bureau Valley off the board. MyerHeitzler has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddux Heitzler was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Annawan-Wethersfield's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 7-2 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Nic Thurston was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Morrison was able to grind out a solid victory over Mendota on Saturday, taking the game 12-9.
Jake Stobbe made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Carson White and Gage Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: White went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Wilson went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI White has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Koltin Swaim, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Annawan-Wethersfield's record now sits at 13-10. As for Morrison, their record is now 12-9.
Annawan-Wethersfield came up short against Morrison in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 3-0. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
