Basketball Game Preview: Leflore County Tigers vs. Simmons Blue Devils

Leflore County is 0-10 against Simmons since November of 2021 but things could change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Leflore County came up short against Shaw and fell 48-41.

Meanwhile, Simmons entered their tilt with West Bolivar on Thursday with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-14 win. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Simmons' win came from a few key players that Leflore County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sa'Riyah Alexander, who posted 13 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Kristen Johnson was another key player, putting up six points along with six steals and five assists.

Simmons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive matchups.

Leflore County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Simmons, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.

Leflore County took a serious blow against Simmons in their previous matchup back in January, falling 48-14. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Tigers were down 33-3.
