Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lawrence County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Belfry Pirates on Tuesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Braxton Davis, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Belfry off the board.

On the hitting side, Gray Derifield was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Brady Caudill was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Lawrence County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Belfry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Lawrence County has already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Martin County on the 23rd. As for Belfry, they will host Tolsia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
