Softball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Barker Raiders. The Fighting Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Olivia Gillard stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Clairissa Milliman, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Barker, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Notre Dame will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Aquinas Institute at 4:30 p.m. on May 6. As for Barker, they will take on Alexander at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
