Baseball Game Preview: Pacifica Mariners vs. Torrance Tartars

The Pacifica Mariners are taking a road trip to take on the Torrance Tartars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pacifica's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Torrance's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pacifica had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Northwood on Tuesday. The Mariners put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 13-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mariners' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Torrance beat South 7-4 on Thursday. The Tartars haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Tessei Magori was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Issac Mora was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pacifica's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Torrance, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Pacifica couldn't quite get it done against Torrance in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
