Soccer Game Preview: Olympia vs. Emerald Ridge

The Olympia Bears will face off against the Emerald Ridge Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Emerald Ridge will be up against a hot Olympia squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Bears' defense stepped up to hand Bethel a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. Olympia's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Emerald Ridge made sure to put some goals up on the board against Rogers on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over the Rams. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Emerald Ridge's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Rogers are ranked 213th).

Emerald Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five matchups. As for Olympia, they pushed their record up to 11-1-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
