Baseball Recap: Northshore Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northshore). They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Pearl River Central Blue Devils on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Derek Weilbaecher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Weilbaecher was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Connor Smith was a standout: he went 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Jayden Hellmers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Northshore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Northshore's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pearl River Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Northshore will venture away from home to take on Franklinton at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pearl River Central, they will head out to square off against John Curtis Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
