Soccer Game Preview: North Monterey County vs. Gonzales

The North Monterey County Condors will square off against the Gonzales Spartans at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

North Monterey County's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Monte Vista Christian as North Monterey County made off with a 3-0 win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gonzales). They put the hurt on Soledad with a sharp 6-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Spartans have won five contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Soledad with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jorge Uribe (2), Edgar Santiago (2), Jose Camacho, and Ulisses Mancillas.

Gonzales pushed their record up to 9-3-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five games. As for North Monterey County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

North Monterey County might still be hurting after the 5-2 loss they got from Gonzales when the teams last played on January 6th. Can North Monterey County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
